The Local Area around Peyrasse

Things to do

The local Tourist Information Office in Lauzun has lots of information about vineyards, canoe trips, horse riding, cycling, tennis and local craft fairs, music and activities.  Explore the Lot et Garonne region from Peyrasse. Stroll through beautiful local villages with honey coloured stone, tiled roofscapes, historic churches, many are walled with a large chateau somewhere near the centre. Some of the loveliest villages you should try to visit are Lauzun (5 mins) Eymet (15 mins) Castillones (15 mins) Issigeac (20 mins) Villereal (20 mins) Allemans-du-Dropt (20 mins) Monpazier (30 mins) Monflanquin (30 mins)

The landscape of the region is typically rolling open countryside with wide open vistas. Dive off the straight Roman roads into the meandering narrow lanes and you'll pass through vineyards, cool shaded decidous woodland, fields and fields of plum trees, apple orchards, walnut and hazelnut trees.  Vast fields of yellow sunflowers, fluffy lucerne and tall maize. It's a 30 minute drive to Bergerac and approx 1 hour to the famously dramatic Dordogne River.

Shopping

Your local patisserie/bakery is in Lauzun where there is also a butcher, convenience store, pharmacy, petrol station &  Tabac. (Most shops in Lauzun are closed on Monday). The nearest supermarket is at St Pardoux Isaac by Miramont (15 mins drive away).  It is a huge Intermarche with absolutely everything you need.

Every day of the week there is a colourful local market with regional produce: fresh fruit and vegetables, local cheeses, meats, honey, pastries - with stallholders also selling clothing, jewellery, woven bags, handmade soaps, antiques and so much more.

Eating Out

There are two good restaurants in nearby Lauzun (5 mins drive) or go slightly further to Eymet, Castillones or Issigeac to find plenty more choice.
